YU baseball team pitcher Lee Sang-dong (21, Special Physical Education, junior) and outfielder Lee Jae-hoon (21, Sports Science, senior) were picked up for the national baseball team to compete at the '2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei'.
The Korea University Baseball Federation (Chairman Kim Dae-il) recently held a technical competitiveness improvement committee meeting and picked up 10 pitchers, five infielders, four outfielders, and three catchers for the Korean national baseball team to compete in the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei.
Lee Sang-dong graduated from Gyeongbok Middle School and Gyeongbok High School and is currently enrolled at YU and has recorded an ERA of 2.52. His fast ball goes up to 144km. He stepped up as the second pitcher against Dong-A University on the 11th and pitched for five innings helping his team post a win. He gave up only four hits and struck out 10 batters.
Lee Sang-dong's role model is Oh Seung-hwan and he is concentrating on improving his reflexes. Lee said, "I did not expect to be picked up for the national team as there are also many great pitchers who are my seniors on my team. It is a great burden to play for the national team, but I will do my best so that our team can do well."
Lee Jae-hoon is an outfielder and graduated from Pocheol Middle School and Pocheol High School. He played in 14 matches this year and recorded a batting average of 0.347 and had 23 steals.
