Establishing partnership sharing tradition, potential and vision

Starting first semester of next year, the students of Yeungnam University and Korea University would be able to receive credits by going back and forth between the campus of both schools. To make this possible, Yeungnam University (president Lee, Hyo-Soo) and Korea University (president Lee, Ki-Su , photo on the right) have signed an agreement for exchange of academics and credits at the 1st floor conference hall of Korea University's Main Hall in the morning of 15th.
These two private universities with something in common in tradition, potential and vision aspects such as mighty alumni power including "top 3 in discharging ministers of current government", "top 5 in discharging the 18th assemblymen" and "top 10 in discharging executives in top 30 companies nationwide, the scale of 25,000 enrolled students or the fact that 'Glocal Initiative' of Yeungnam University and 'Frontier Spirit' of Korea University are pursued as university vision of the 21st century have gathered their intention in establishing partnership to become a core university of global standard leading the knowledge based society.
To make this possible, two universities have agreed to cooperate in the mutual exchange of teaching staffs, joint research & joint opening of academic conference, mutual exchange of academic materials/publications/information and mutual usage of facilities, etc.
Above all, they have agreed to exchange students and credits during vacation semesters as well as regular semesters starting 2010. The courses for credit exchange was set as regular courses established in each university and the students who desire credit exchange are to get a recommendation from the dean of Academic Affairs in each university. Accordingly, Yeungnam University students are now about to obtain up to 21 credits per semester from Korea University and vice versa.
To this, president Lee, Hyo-Soo of Yeungnam University said that "let the two universities gather strength to present new paradigm of university education and set spurs in making effort to become a core university of global standard" by saying that "these are the times when the paradigm shift of university education is necessary and when the global competitiveness of Korean university must be raised beyond the classification between metropolitan and provincial area."
President Lee, Ki-Su had also responded to this and expected that "I hope this opportunity of today would become a good starting point for producing good results" by saying "let's make an effort to become an actual exchange which is not merely an exchange according to document."
In the agreement signing ceremony of this day, president Lee, Hyo-Soo, dean of Academic Affairs Baek, Seung-Dae, dean of General Administration Park, Jong-Mu, director of Office of External Cooperation Cho, Kye-Hyun and dean of College of Political Science & Public Administration Kim, Tae-Il, etc from Yeungnam University as well as president Lee, Ki-Su, dean of Planning & Budget Han, Jae-Min, dean of Academic Affairs Ryu, Jin-Hee, dean of External Cooperation Chung, Jin-Taek and dean of International Affairs Choi, Heung-Suk, etc have participated.
