"At first, I wanted to learn Korea because of my interest toward Korean dramas and songs. So I entered the Korean education center of Yeungnam University. Although I could learn Korean easily because it has great applicability and simplicity as it is consisted of very scientific characters, I had a lot of hard time at first because the meaning becomes completely different depending on the nuance and context as Korean is a language with plenty of emotions. But I can speak Korea well now as I started to gain understanding on Korean culture and Korean people's way of thinking. Because of that, I even got a job at a large company. Learning Korean was really a fortune to me."
Miss Yo, Wu-Ting who is enrolled in semester 3 of master's course at the Visual Media Image Design Department of Yeungnam University Graduate School at this time who is from Shandong, China. She who came to Korea 4 years ago to learn Korean and ended up enrolling into university and graduate school has finally passed the 'global intern' recently selected by E-Mart. It was because she has fluent ability to speak Korean and above all, she also has a great understanding toward Korean culture and society as well as possessing the skill even in the professional field.
Global interns were selected by E-Mart for the first time targeting Chinese university students who are studying in the country facing its full scale advance to China. After they complete an internship for certain period of time in each branch of E-Mart in the country, they become dispatched as regular employees to Chinese branch after they graduate. While about 120 people have applied throughout the country, 48 people have been selected at last through document review and interviews, etc.
At the Yeungnam University, a total of 4 Chinese students including Li, Hangwe (male, 21), Jyang, Jun-Ryang(male, 25), Phang, Sienhwa(female, 22) other than Yo, Wu-Ting have been selected as global interns. Li, Hangwe from Anhui, Jyang, Jun-Ryang from Henan and Phang, Sienhwa from Jilin are all enrolled in fourth grade of School of International Economics and Business. Especially, Phang, Sienhwa was selected as '2+2 plural degree system' in September of last year in Beihwa University of China to be currently active as an intern of International Student Services Team of Office of International Programs after coming abroad to study at the School of International Economics and Business of Yeungnam University.
The mission given to these people who will be working at the Chinese branches of E-Mart that are advanced into Beijing, Shanghai and Tenzin starting September of next year after graduating in August is to become a bridge for successful advancement of E-Mart into China. These people who say they want to work in the fields such as marketing, publicity or organization management using their own major have made a firm determination to make even more effort in learning Korean for 1 year and experience more of Korean culture so they can overcome cultural differences as well as the obstacles in communication while making the best use of the their abilities to become successful in localization.
